VOLUNTEER AS A PART OF THE NEW COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE INTITATIVE

Giving our neighbors a voice using our new intake program: “Service Insights on Meal Connect”

We’re thrilled to introduce a new intake program as part of our Community Experience Initiative. Developed by Feeding America, SIMC is a game-changer for our Mobile Pantry and Blue Spruce programs, enabling us to gather essential information about our Neighbors’ households, access to food, and dietary restrictions. This digital transformation, featuring check-in tags equipped with barcodes or QR codes for easy identification, not only accelerates our service delivery by making our lines move faster but also enhances our capability to meet our Neighbors’ unique needs more effectively.

By implementing SIMC, we aim to deepen our understanding of the community we serve. This new system allows us to ensure cultural and dietary respect by tailoring our food distribution to meet the specific needs of families with young children, seniors, and those requiring special diets due to health conditions. Moreover, transitioning to encrypted digital intake secures our Neighbors’ sensitive information, marking a significant improvement over previous paper-based methods. Perhaps most importantly, SIMC empowers us to advocate more effectively for policies that address food insecurity, armed with detailed insights into the challenges our Neighbors face.

This is where you come in! We’re inviting our current volunteers to step forward and join a training cohort to become SIMC intake volunteers. This opportunity will not only allow you to interact more closely with the neighbors you’re helping but also play a crucial role in grassroots advocacy efforts. Your participation will ensure that our government officials are informed about our community’s needs, paving the way for better support and resources. If you’re interested in making a tangible difference and connecting more deeply with the people we serve, sign up now for our next training session. Let’s work together to leverage this new technology for the greatest impact. Click here to join our next volunteer cohort.

We’re looking forward to seeing you in our upcoming training cohort and thank you for your continued support and dedication to serving our community.
