The Impact of this Past Weekend’s Power Outages on Our Community
This past weekend, over 150,000 local residents, families, and businesses, including Community Food Share, experienced a significant power outage. The unexpected event led to numerous challenges for our community, significantly impacting food security for thousands of our neighbors. With refrigerators and freezers down, many of those affected are facing an unforeseen food crisis. We understand this loss directly impacts many of the families we serve, as well as many others.

Community Food Share is here to support families impacted by the recent power outages. Community Food Share’s Onsite Pantry will be open Wednesday through Friday, and we also have a variety of partner agencies that will be open throughout the week. Please keep in mind that our partners may have been affected by the power outage. Our team is working tirelessly to coordinate resources and support for those in need. We are committed to ensuring that everyone in our community has access to the food they need during this challenging period.
How You Can Support
The power outage has not only affected our community members but has also significantly impacted our ability to provide for those in need. Additionally, it hindered our ability to conduct our regular food pickups from local grocers. The loss of such a substantial amount of food means that we need your help now more than ever to replenish what was lost. Here are a few ways you can make a difference:
- Monetary Contributions: Monetary contributions allow us to quickly replenish lost supplies inventory and support operations the surge in need for our programs. Every dollar counts. Donate here.
- Spread the Word: Sharing information about the outage’s impact and how to help can significantly increase support and resources for those affected.
