Celebrating Volunteer Impact: Insights from Our Recent Survey

Our recent volunteer survey results are in, and they paint a picture of positivity and community spirit! Your feedback has given us a clear view of what’s working well and where we can make things even better.

We’re thrilled to report that 98% of you had a positive experience volunteering with us, with 84% rating it as “extremely good.” These numbers show just how much your efforts mean to our mission of tackling food insecurity in our community. Your commitment is what makes Community Food Share thrive, and we can’t thank you enough for your dedication.

What’s Next?

Your insights have pointed us in some exciting directions:

  • We have implemented a feedback survey for volunteers to fill out that gets sent 24 hours after they work a shift. This is an exciting addition because now volunteers can share their experiences (positive and negative) after each shift, with the option of being anonymous.
  • Additionally, we received many comments discussing the struggle of enforcing limits to Neighbors. As many of you know, we have stopped asking volunteers to enforce limits, which has already proven to be a positive change.
  • There was also significant interest regarding an annual event tailored to each program addressing role responsibilities, new systems and guidelines, and an open forum. My goal for the next fiscal year is to implement an annual training for volunteers.
  • Lastly, there was some interest in quarterly events by volunteers for volunteers. Suggested skills included gardening, cooking, crafting, and Spanish speaking. I think it would be interesting to have an event like this to focus on the “community” part of our volunteer department; however, for now, I am putting this project on pause until I can better gauge interest.
