Hunger Action Month

September 2018

What is Hunger Action Month?

Hunger Action Month is the Feeding America network’s nationwide awareness campaign designed to mobilize the public to take action on the issue of hunger. Hunger Action Day, Thursday, September 13, 2018, is a day where efforts across the country are focused for greater impact.

Why Should You Participate?

Hunger exists in every county in the United States, affecting 42 million Americans including 13 million children. In Boulder and Broomfield Counties, hunger is a reality for 1 in 8 people. The Feeding America network believes that hunger IS solvable and we’re leading the fight to end it.

How Can You Participate?

  • Attend an event to benefit Community Food Share:

Farm to Fork Dinner at Whimsy Farm to kick off the month | Saturday, August 25 | More information

  • Donate to Community Food Share: For every $5 donated, we can distribute 15 meals!

  • Volunteer to help sort food and stock pantry shelves

  • Take a tour of Community Food Share, and see our operation in action!

  • Join the national conversation by posting a selfie — find a paper plate, scribble what you couldn’t do on an empty stomach. On the opposite side, write what you can do to fight hunger. See Nina’s example below! Post a photo with your plate to social media with #HungerActionMonth. Tag @CommunityFoodShare and @FeedingAmerica.
