11TH ANNUAL LOUISVILLE TURKEY TROT

Benefiting Community Food Share

The Advent Health Avista Louisville Turkey Trot is one of our community’s most beloved and anticipated family events of the year.

We invite you to join your neighbors and friends on Thanksgiving morning in supporting Community Food Share and helping provide families, children, and older adults with access to fresh, nutritious food. Last year’s race raised more than $55,500.

Together, we can outpace local hunger!

Over the last 10 years, the Louisville Turkey Trot has hosted more than 50,000 participants and has helped provide countless meals for our community.

For every $1 donated, Community Food Share can provide $5 worth of groceries!

Road Closures and Alternate Routes

Roads will be closed to traffic beginning at 8:45 AM and will reopen as the last runner passes and course materials are removed. If you live on the course, we ask that you not park on the street for safety reasons. For more information, click here for the race schedule and here for the course map.

Road Closures and Alternate Routes

The start is at Front Street and Pine Street near Lucky Pie and Sweet Cow. Parking is free in downtown Louisville, but please be courteous to local businesses and residents.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no designated parking at the Start/Finish venue. Please walk, bike, or carpool if possible, or make use of the parking east of the train tracks at Highway 42 and South Street, and use the South Street pedestrian underpass. View map here.

Please be respectful to our neighbors and the Louisville community. Do not block driveways or alleys and do not leave any trash in the neighborhood.

All runners will start in the same wave at 9:00 AM. The start line is located just north of Pine Street on Front Street.

If you are a fast trotter, please make sure you move to the front of the flock to find some like-minded turkeys. If you are out for a more casual gobble, don’t hesitate to move towards the back, further north on Front Street. No matter where you are in the flock, this is a family-friendly event and all of the turkeys are generally pretty friendly.

There are no bibs, timing devices, or packet pickup for the Turkey Trot; just jump in with the flock and get ready to run. Our biggest goal is raising funds for Community Food Share!

WE CANNOT ALLOW PETS OR ANIMALS OF ANY TYPE IN THE TROT. Our insurance does not allow it; you will be asked to not participate with your furry companion.

Strollers are welcome (and no, you don’t have to register the child in the stroller).

Water will be available before and after the race at the southwest corner of Front Street and Walnut Street. There are no water stations on the course, so please be prepared if you anticipate needing more hydration during your trot.

This year’s festivities and refreshments will be located on Walnut Street, just north of Front Street. Coffee and hot cocoa will be available to all, and Liquid Mechanics beer and STEM cider is available to those 21+ who can show an ID.

Yes! Registration for the event will remain open throughout the weekend, even after the event. Why? Because your registration helps provide food to support our neighbors facing hunger.

Look for QR codes at the event to register on your phone.

Nope, there are many volunteer positions still available! Click here to view opportunities and sign up today.

Since there are so many of you, we must close roads to accommodate a safe event. Please let your neighbors know that these streets will be impacted during the event (roughly 8:45-10:15 AM).
