COVID-19 Update:

Volunteers are an essential part of our operation — they nearly double our workforce! Volunteer activities continue to operate in accordance with CDC recommendations and social distancing requirements (maintaining 6 feet of physical distance between all people at all times along with frequent hand washing and sanitizing). Out of an abundance of caution, the following changes are effective until further notice:

  • All volunteers must come to their shift wearing a mask that covers their mouth and nose. In an effort to reserve supplies for our community’s medical staff, we encourage our volunteers to make their own non-medical, cloth face masks, using materials they already have at home. For resources on how to make them, visit the Colorado Mask Project’s website.
  • We cannot accept volunteers under the age of 10.
  • All group volunteer opportunities are closed until further notice.
  • Tuesday evening sessions are discontinued.
  • Orientation is no longer required for new volunteers. Individuals who would like to volunteer with us for the first time should follow the instructions on this page.
  • Anyone who has traveled outside of Colorado — or been in close contact with someone who has traveled outside of Colorado — in the last 14 days cannot volunteer at this time.
  • If the CDC considers you or someone in your household as high-risk, we do not recommend that you volunteer at this time.
  • We are building a Rapid Response Team of volunteers who would like to be on-call for new needs, as they arise. This situation continues to evolve quickly, and our Rapid Response Team will grant us the flexibility to adapt as necessary. To join this group, check the “COVID-19 Rapid Response Team” box on the first step of your registration form.

As always, please cancel your shift if you are experiencing symptoms of illness (including any symptoms associated with COVID-19). Contact the Volunteer Department at (303) 652-3663 so that we can plan accordingly.

Volunteer as a Group at Community Food Share

We welcome corporate and community groups as large as 30 people. In addition to fighting hunger, you’ll build team cohesion, boost morale, and increase motivation. For groups of over 15 volunteers, please call a member of the volunteer department to discuss options so we can ensure your group’s experience is fun and rewarding!

Get Started as a New Volunteer Group

Step 1: Designate a group leader. If you are the group leader, visit Community Food Share’s group volunteer calendar to submit your request.

Step 2: As the group’s leader, select the available date and time that you wish to reserve for your group by clicking the “Sign Up” button.

  • If you have never registered within our volunteer portal (either as an individual volunteer or on behalf of a group), you will be prompted to fill out a short, one-time registration form.

  • If you are already a registered user in our volunteer portal, you will log into your existing account.

Step 3: Please select the number of volunteers you want to book. Do not include their email addresses when prompted. If you need to modify this number at any time, please contact our volunteer department at (303) 652-3663.

Step 4: Wait for our volunteer department to confirm your group reservation with a special registration link that is unique to your group. This link cannot be accessed from our website or volunteer portal.

  • Each volunteer in your group must register through this registration link so that we know how many individuals to expect. This also allows us to accurately track our volunteers and their donated time. Thank you in advance for your assistance ensuring your teammates register for your group volunteer shift!

Group volunteer shifts typically last 2-3 hours on weekdays between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Evening shifts are available on Tuesdays until 6:30 PM, for groups of up to 12 volunteers.

Onsite Activities

Group activities vary based on our current needs. Teams typically help with sorting produce, canned goods, or frozen foods; restocking pantry shelves; repackaging foods; and maintaining a clean, food-safe facility.

Offsite Activities: Gardening & Gleaning (Seasonal)

Work outside in gardens and farms across Boulder and Broomfield Counties. Help plant and pick fresh produce that will be donated to Community Food Share. Opportunities are seasonal, on weekdays, and on weekends. For availability, call (303) 652-3663.

Community Food Share’s warehouse is located in the Colorado Technology Center in Louisville: 650 S. Taylor Avenue, Louisville, CO.
