Our Senior Food Program: Elder Share

Free Groceries for Adults Ages 60+ in Boulder and Broomfield Counties

Whether you are a senior living on a fixed income, are homebound, or otherwise need help getting healthy food, Community Food Share is here to help. Elder Share provides free groceries to older adults in Boulder and Broomfield Counties twice per month. Food choices include fresh produce, milk, meat and frozen items, deli products, eggs, bread, shelf-stable pantry items, and other nutritious options.

If you are a caregiver or have an older family member, you can also register and/or pick up food on their behalf.

For Debra, the pandemic was the push to seek help for the first time. In her late fifties, rapid and severe degeneration in Debra’s eyes led to an unexpected, early retirement from the nurse practitioner career she cherished. Today, at the age of 62, Debra is legally blind. Through our Elder Share program, Debra was able to get free groceries delivered to her door when the pandemic made it unsafe to take public transit.

“Because of Community Food Share, I’ve been able to do the things I love like cook and preserve food. That makes me happy, and it keeps me busy even though I can’t see.”
