Our Older Adults Food Program: Blue Spruce Neighbors

Whether you are an older adult living on a fixed income, are homebound, or otherwise need help getting healthy food, Community Food Share is here to help. Blue Spruce Neighbors (formerly Elder Share) provides free groceries to older adults 60+ in Boulder and Broomfield Counties twice per month. Food choices include fresh produce and non-perishable, dairy and/or frozen options.

If you are a caregiver or have an older family member, you can also register and/or pick up food on their behalf.

Am I Eligible?

You are eligible for the Blue Spruce Neighbors program if: (1) you are 60 years of age or older; (2) you live in Boulder County or Broomfield County.

Our staff will work with you individually to determine the best location for you.

Upcoming Schedule of Community Food Share Distributions

Regardless of where you live in Boulder or Broomfield counties, we have food distributions near you, featuring both our onsite food pantry and traveling mobile pantries. Browse the calendar below to find a location and time convenient for you.

What to Bring?

You will be asked to fill out a short, one-page enrollment form to sign up for the program. Please come prepared to share a little information about you and the members of your household, including names, dates of birth, photo ID, and proof of address in Boulder County or Broomfield County.

You may apply on behalf of your family member by calling our Blue Spruce Neighbors Manager, Aaron Miller, at 303-652-3663 ext. 225, or emailing bluespruceneighbors@communityfoodshare.org. We will share an enrollment form with you and discuss the program.  

A caregiver can apply on behalf of a senior, but you must include your information as the second/proxy shopper on the enrollment form. You may apply on behalf of your family member by calling our Blue Spruce Neighbors, Aaron Miller, at 303-652-3663 ext. 225 or emailing bluespruceneighbors@communityfoodshare.org. We will share an enrollment form with you and discuss the program.

  • Driver’s license
  • State issued photo identification
  • School, university, or college identification card
  • US or foreign passport
  • Matricula consular
  • Temporary Resident Card
  • Alien Registration Receipt or Permanent Resident Card
  • Employment Authorization Card
  • Colorado Temporary Driver’s License

The proof of address should be in your own name and no more than three months old. Here are some options:

  • Utility, phone, or medical bill
  • Lease
  • Insurance documents
  • Bank statements

You may designate a friend or family member to collect food on your behalf when you fill out your enrollment form. Please communicate with staff ahead of time if you know you will have a conflict receiving your food.

You may be able to visit Community Food Share’s onsite pantry, Feeding Families, or one of our Mobile Pantry locations. Call Community Food Share at (303) 652-3663 if you would like information about other food resources in your area.
