How to Get Started as a New Volunteer
You can join us in the fight against hunger by becoming a volunteer with Community Food Share!
Volunteer as an Individual or Family
Whether with family, friends, or on your own, we welcome you to join us at Community Food Share. We provide a diverse range of volunteer opportunities that you can engage in five days a week.

Volunteer as a Group
Group activities vary based on our needs and may include sorting goods, restocking shelves, repackaging foods, and maintaining a clean, food-safe facility. Group volunteer shifts typically last 2 hours on weekdays between 9:30 AM and 2:30 PM. We’re able to accommodate volunteer groups of varying sizes. Kindly inform us of the number of people attending so we can make the necessary arrangements.
To schedule a group volunteer project, contact our team at volunteers@communityfoodshare.org, and our team will get you set up.
Required Service Hours
We welcome volunteers who need to complete community service hours for school, church, court, scouts, or SNAP.
Policies for Court-Mandated Community Service
- Charges related to harassment, violence, theft, or sexual misconduct are prohibited.
- You must provide documentation of your requirement and your case worker’s or probation officer’s contact information upon arrival of your first shift. You must bring these papers with you to orientation so we can make a photocopy.
Now Recruiting! Join the Young Leaders Program
Community Food Share’s Youth Leaders Board is an impactful way for high school students to become involved in community leadership. This program is designed to get students involved in the community and give them a chance to volunteer & receive real-world experiences and benefits. Those involved in this program will meet once a month, plan and execute one personal project, and help with CFS sanctioned events. Please view our information sheet for additional information and requirements.

Take Home Volunteer Kits. Perfect for classrooms!
As we enter a busier than usual holiday season, we will be pausing CVK rentals until 2026. If you have any questions, please reach out to volunteers@communityfoodshare.org.
Take home volunteer kits are a meaningful way to give back to the community without leaving your school. Classroom Volunteer Kits include everything needed to complete a volunteer project in the classroom. These grab-and-go kits are free for educators and come with supplemental materials to help facilitate a conversation about the impact your students are having. Tune back in when 2026 is here to learn more about how you can get a take home volunteer kit.
